Attention all you Mac folks… ;-)

So I didn’t cover this yesterday, but I swung through the TiVo booth again today and took some more photos – including several of the screens of the new MacOS TiVo Desktop they are demonstrating in the booth. Yes, it exists, but it is pre-alpha at this point.

Even though “late” is a laughable understatement, I’m still drooling…

2 Things… just learning how to use WordPress and just learning how to use a Mac (traded my PC Laptop for a iBook). So, if this isn’t right, let me know.

It looks like you mirrored a couple the photos just fine. Thanks. :-)

Hopefully this will be out around the same time as the Series 3 TiVo, so I can geek out appropriately.

  • megazone

I believe the Mac Desktop will beat the Series3 to market. My understanding is the Mac Desktop will probably be out in the first half of the year.

As for testing – fill out the beta application on TiVo’s website and you may well get picked. :-)

    Me, too!

No wonder the current Tivo Desktop STILL doesn’t work in Tiger, all their machines are apparently still on Panther. ;)

So did you throw a rock against a metal oil drum and when everyone at TiVo looked to see what the noise was you downloaded it to your ipod?

  • solipsistnation

HA ha. Now you have to get a Mac. 8)

  • megazone

No, I wasn’t going to lift their software.

  • megazone

Why? Mac is just finally catching up to what TiVo already has on Windows. ;-)

  • anonymous

don’t you mean , “TiVO is finally catching up to the Mac… “

  • solipsistnation

    But it’s BETTER!!!!! SO THERE!!!!!!

  • anonymous

actually the current TiVO desktop works fine with Tiger. Just ignore the install error. when I installed I thought it failed but then when I hooked my TIVo to my wireless network and looked in my system prefs, there it was , Tivo desktop.. it’s a bit clunky, like I had to click the start button several times before it stuck “on” i dunno.

At least it works here, for music and pictures anyway. My Tivo2 is wireless and I can access my Itunes music and iPhoto pictures from my TV. not that useful, my display on my mac is much better than my TV, and I stream iTunes to my stereo with an Airport express anyway.

  • megazone

    Nope. :-)

  • megazone

Well, the MacBook Pro doesn’t look too bad. ;-)

Your sentence is meaningless. How the hell can “Mac catch up to TiVo”? They aren’t competing in the same market. TiVo makes DVRs, Apple makes computers, ‘Mac’ is an operating system and/or product line made by Apple.

The correct sentence might be that ‘Tivo is finally catching up on the Mac what they already have on Windows’. This is about TiVo, a company, designing software to run on operating systems, linux, mac, windows, etc., not about an operating system catching up to company that makes software for an operating system.

    Sheesh.

  • megazone

I was wondering when someone was going to get defensive about that, I’m kind of surprised it too so long.

is an old friend of mine, I was teasing him – and laying out some bait for anyone else.

What is the URL of TiVo’s beta application?
