TiVo lowering monthly fee for some users

Spotted via PVRWire, TiVo is cutting the monthly fee for some users. I’ve seen other reports of this around the web – that people call to cancel their sub and get offered the $6.95/month rate on their primary box, instead of $12.95. This isn’t unheard of, falls under customer retention. I’ve been offered things like this by other companies in the past – you know “Don’t cancel this credit card… how about we give you a lower interest rate?” Same idea. Some people seem to be upset by this, I don’t really see why.

Secret TiVo Tips and Tweaks

Whether you want to check the time or add more channels or storage to your favorite digital video recorder, we can show you how.

This PC World article basically compiles a bunch of well known back doors and easter eggs. I’m pretty sure some of the ‘secret’ tips are in the manual – like ‘clear’ to delete a show from Now Playing. I *know* that the unit itself tells you how to do that if you use ‘Delete’ from within an episode listing. Nothing really earth-shaking here, but it is a decent compilation so I thought I’d share it in case people hadn’t seen these before.

Yet another PVR blog and community info.

Another PVR related blog came on the scene recently – PVRWire – I also added a syndication feed as pvrwire.

While I was adding this, I do some housekeeping on the community info page. I removed/updated some of the links that had stopped working, and added some more resources. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I recommend it. It is a fairly comprehensive list of TiVo, and PVR, resources. If you have other suggestions for the list, drop a comment about it.
