The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) is ramping up their efforts to promote the format. Previous promotions with free titles have been fairly successful, so they’re making an even broader push now. If you purchase any Blu-ray player, including the PS3, between July 1st and September 30th, you will automatically qualify to receive five free Blu-ray titles. It looks like this may be combined with other offers for free titles offered by specific vendors, so you could end up with even more free media.
Sony also has a special on the PS3 running through July 8th. Purchase a PS3, extra controller, and two games at any Sony Style retail location, and receive a $50 gift card.
The official site for the five free titles is www.bluraysavings.com. It isn’t up yet, but it should be before the offer kicks in.
Picked up from Blu-ray.com.

Sling Media today issued a press release relating to their partnership with their local CBS channel, CBS 5 KPIX-TV. KPIX utilizes Slingbox technology combined with 3G cellular data connections and remote cameras to provide remote images from locations around the Bay Area, including mobile units. It is a pretty nifty application of the Slingbox technology, I could see commercial applications like this being another market for Sling Media.
