Samsung may produce a twin-format Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD player later this year after all. The company this week revealed it is “considering” such a “universal” machine, according to a company spokesman.

With rival HD DVD enjoying a head start in the market, Blu-ray Disc, the next-generation optical disc format backed by the lion’s share of studios and consumer electronics manufacturers, is scheduled to make its long-delayed debut next week.

Looks like some Best Buy stores may be selling Blu-ray players before their official street date.
