Great deal on the Toshiba RS-TX20 TiVo/DVD-RW combo

Toshiba RS-TX20 DVD Recorder with 120GB Hard Drive and TiVo – $316.79

I just stumbled upon this and thought I’d share. That’s a good deal – the MSRP is $600, and the next best price I can find for new units is $393.23. Also, the current $150 rebate does apply to these units. So in the end, this unit looks like it would be $166.79 for 120GB – less than the $200 80GB Humax DRT800 offer on TiVo’s site. I have one of the RS-TX20s, it is a good unit.

So if you were thinking of doing any holiday buying, this might be a good offer while it lasts.

    What’s the best way to determine if the rebate applies? I’ve been looking at this deal like a vulture, but my fine-print reading skills aren’t leading me to a conclusion…

    Read the fine print on the rebate itself – it details the model numbers, what you need to claim the rebate, etc.

    Yeah, that’s where I’m not seeing clarity that the unit is covered. It says (both in the former rebate offer and the new one from today onward): “Valid only on TiVo Service Numbers (TSN) starting with 110, 130, 140, 230, 240, 264, 275, 540, 565, 590, 595.” Without knowing the TSN on the Toshiba unit (is there a way to determine this?), it’s not clear to me. Maybe there’s something I’m overlooking?

    The Toshiba RS-TX20/60 have TSNs starting with 565.
