I’m a bit of a casual rail fan, and I love Google Street View (I’ve lost hours just exploring cities), so I think this is pretty cool. Google worked with Rhaetian Railway to mount one of their Street View trikes on a railroad flatcar to photograph the Albula-Bernina line in Switzerland, which is a UNESCO Heritage site. The photos aren’t up on Street View yet, but they’re coming soon. But they have posted photos of the process:

For my money SpaceX is one of the most exciting companies in the world today. They’re doing things no other private company is doing and they’re well ahead of the rest in the race to build the next generation of space transportation system. They’re bringing a fresh approach and a new way of thinking about the problems, and they’ve been pretty successful so far. And they’re looking for interns:
If SpaceX was around when I was in college I may have stayed an Aerospace major. I’m a lot more inspired by what they’re doing than anything NASA has been up to lately.
One of my favorite DVR-related blogs back in the day was Matt Haughey’s PVRblog. Matt was one of the first to start blogging about the nascent DVR field, before DVR became the more generally used term, hence the name of the blog. PVRblog launched in July 2003, while I was still just another member of the TiVo Lovers LJ community. In fact, PVRblog was one of the blogs that inspired me to start blogging myself.
But back in December 2009 Matt sold PVRblog and made one last farewell post. Unfortunately, the company he sold it too never got around to doing anything with the domain and the blog languished for the past two years. But today we got a nice surprise; Matt has reacquired PVRblog and relaunched it today. And his first new content post is about his first thoughts on the new TiVo Premiere Elite.
It is good to have Matt back at PVRblog, I’m looking forward to reading what he has to say.
