Memory lane

A recent entry on PVRBlog got me curious, and I needed a break from work, so I did some Googling.

Oh, in case you didn’t know, TiVo was originally name Teleworld. They changed their name before shipping the first units.

TiVo coming to Australia this year?

Of particular interest:

In Australia Foxtel who recently launched a 130 channel digital entertainment service are delivering to market a proprietary set top box as opposed to allowing their service to run on a DVR system. However it is expected that a PRO version of the Foxtel service will be launched later this year based around the TiVo system.

TiVo Warehouse Warriors

Hey, did anyone else catch that tonight’s ‘Warehouse Warriors’ episode on DIY was a TiVo episode – TiVo staffers vs. TiVo fans.

Ted Malone, Bob ‘TiVoPony’ Poniatowski and Jason Wong represented TiVo. Phil Peterson, Tim Laird and Steve Hahn represented the fans.

TiVo in Japan

Sony may have stopped selling TiVos in the US, but they are still a licensee and they still use the technology – in Japan.

Note the tiny TiVo logo in the box on the lower right.
And the sticker on the back of the unit.
