Win an 80-hour S2DT with lifetime – every month through July!

TiVo almost always has a drawing on their website for a few box. You can usually spot the ‘Win TiVo!’ link on the right side of various pages, like this one. Well, Dave Zatz noticed it was just updated, and now they’re giving away an 80-house S2DT with lifetime service. As you can see in the rules and regulations, you can enter each month, February through July, for each of six drawings. Each month someone wins the S2DT with lifetime, valued at $549.98. Since the box fee on the S2DT is $69.99, I guess that values lifetime at $479.99.

So enter to win.

Oh, one more thing…

While I’m doing my best Columbo, this is one more thing. Several times now I’ve mentioned and linked to TiVo-related posts in E. Stephen Mack’s blog, as he is the Director of TiVoCast Operations. Well, tonight I created zeigen_tivo which is a feed from his blog of only the ‘TiVo’ tagged posts. So anyone interested can follow the TiVo posts without reading the whole blog. If you do want to follow the whole thing, that’s still zeigen_rss.

Resources page updated

The site’s resources page has been updated. More links have been added, broken links fixed, two more books added, more blogs listed – just generally expanded and updated to be more useful. I also updated the links on the right here in the LJ community to point to that page. I also updated the community info page, removing a lot of the old info since it is now on the main site.

The one area of the resources page that still really needs updating is the 3rd party software. I’m still mulling over some ideas, I may break that out into another area. I’m thinking about starting an index for 3rd party software – HME and otherwise. I’m trying to expand the site bit by bit as I find the time.

Two new TiVo related publications

I’ve been working on updating the Resources page, and there are a couple of new books I’ve added.

Well, one book: Beginning TiVo Programming which will street on February 12, 2007. This book is a comprehensive guide to programming TiVo HME applications, and it is the first book of its kind. One of the authors, Kyle Copeland, is connected through my circle of friends and I got a chance to chat with him for a bit at CES. The authors are the guys behind AudioFaucet, the HME application that won TiVo’s contest. They had to suspend work on that while working on the book, but they plan to resume work on AudioFaucet. I think this will be a good resource for any HME developers.

The other publication is a digital download: Coping with TiVo: Opportunities of the networked digital video recorder It appears to be an industry research report.

TiVo Website shortcut URLs

I’m trying to compile a list of the various shortcut URLs on TiVo’s website – for example, http://www.tivo.com/adapters jumps to the list of supported adapters.

This is what I have:

http://www.tivo.com/about

http://www.tivo.com/store

http://www.tivo.com/network

http://www.tivo.com/adapters

http://www.tivo.com/togo

http://www.tivo.com/desktop

http://www.tivo.com/beta

http://www.tivo.com/support

http://www.tivo.com/manage

http://www.tivo.com/lineup

http://www.tivo.com/tco

http://www.tivo.com/guides

http://www.tivo.com/tips

http://www.tivo.com/faq

http://www.tivo.com/careers

http://www.tivo.com/codec

http://www.tivo.com/copyprotection

http://www.tivo.com/roxio

http://www.tivo.com/media

These two don’t really count because they’re not redirect shortcuts, but actual paths.

http://www.tivo.com/resources/

http://www.tivo.com/developer/

Let me know of any I missed. Thanks.
