Tomorrow they’re bumping the price to $39.99 for the box, just for one day. After that it looks like it’ll be back to $79.99.

I failed you yesterday – they had a one day deal with the unit free with service commitment. But I was really tied up with work and didn’t have a window to post anything until it was so late it didn’t seem worth it. It wasn’t until today that I had time to really look at the deal and saw it was a three day promotion with $0, $19.99, & $39.99 pricing.

So if you’ve been thinking of getting a new TiVo, and you’re not holding out for the soon-to-be-released TiVo Premiere Elite, now may be a good time to act. Or maybe you have someone especially deserving on your holiday shopping list and you can get their gift out of the way early. Just remember, the promotion ends Thursday.

One new piece of information, the offer will initially roll out to customers in the New York City area only. TWC will decide if and when to expand the offer to other service areas based on the response they get from NYC customers.

I’d probably jump on this myself, except I already own both Iron Man films on Blu-ray.

First up is a deal on select LG 2011 Home Entertainment Products. There are 32 products to choose from, 28 HDTVs, two 720p front projectors, and a Blu-ray player and Blu-ray home theater. Next up, get two free pairs of 3D glasses and a Blu-ray player with the purchase of a select Samsung HDTV. Lastly we have two promotions running on Sony products. The first is on Sony HDTVs, with twelve to choose from. They’re all 1080p and all but one are LED (the one is LCD), eight are 3D, and screen sizes range from 32″ to 60″.

And lastly, a deal on Sony Blu-ray players and home audio systems. What’s not clear is what happens if you use it with analog cable, or clear QAM, without using a CableCARD. The wording of the deal sounds like you need to use a CableCARD to be disqualified, but I think the spirit of the deal is clearly meant to be antenna and no cable in any form.

TiVo is one of the best DVR solutions available to cord cutters as, aside from rolling your own with a PC, there really aren’t many ATSC DVR options available. These days TiVo is really pretty much it, at least for anything that isn’t bare bones, like the Channel Master CM-7000PAL. (It is basically a rebranded version of the discontinued Dish Network DTVPal.) For the price of the Channel Master you can get a TiVo and nearly two years of service at the lower rate, and you get lot more features. And with the OTT services supported by TiVo it is great for the antenna-broadband combo cord cutters.

While the promotion is running on Solid Signal’s page, you enter the code on TiVo’s site when activating service. I suspect you can actually use the promo code with units purchased elsewhere, such as via Amazon for $81.99.

Perhaps a better choice would be BestBuy.com though, as they’re now offering a free long-range antenna with the purchase of a TiVo Premiere. Sold as a bundle, you get the TiVo and antenna for $99.99, the price of the TiVo, saving $105.99. Presuming the ‘Antenna’ promo code does work for units purchased elsewhere you could get a TiVo, antenna, and half-price service – everything a beginning cord cutter needs.

First up, I’m not sure I’m sold on Sharp’s Quattron technology or not. I haven’t seen a set in person in conditions where I can really judge it. Basically they added a yellow pixel to the standard red, green, and blue pixels and claim in provides sharper colors.
