href="http://www.singulus.de/en/willkommen.html">Singulus</a>, which produces Blu-ray manufacturing equipment, predicts that 50% of US households will have purchased a Blu-ray player by 2010, while it will take until 2011 or 2012 to hit the same levels in Germany.  They also expect the market to peak in the next 5-6 years.</p><p>Blu-ray sales have been increasing as player prices have dropped.  As we&#8217;ve seen there have been several recent sales and promotions which have brought full-featured BD-Live players from first-tier brands into the $200 price range, which is a key price point.  And prices are widely expected to drop further going into the holiday season, especially with Black Friday specials.  And prices are expected to drop even more in 2009 <a
href="http://www.gizmolovers.com/2008/05/26/chinese-blu-ray-players-to-flood-the-market-in-2009/">as Chinese manufacturers enter the market</a>.  The trouble with the economy is also driving prices down as vendors drop them to encourage sales in a depressed market.</p><p>Via <a

href="http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=924">Blu-ray.com</a>.</p><p>Also, Stefan Baustert, chief execturive of Germany&#8217;s Singulus Technologies AG, which produces Blu-ray pressing systems, stated that the<cite>&#8220;chance has significantly increased that we will deliver more than the previously planned 15 Blu-ray machines in 2008&#8243;</cite>.  He also said that it was probably that Singulus could reach a worldwide market share for Blu-ray machines of roughly two-thirds.  So it sounds like we&#8217;ll be seeing a notable increase in production capacity for Blu-ray discs over the course of 2008, and that Warner&#8217;s announcement has sparked further growth in the market.
