Remember way back to yesterday when I said Wine Library TV was listed on the website with a broken link and not showing up on the TiVo at all? Well, they’ve half fixed that. Now it is listed correctly on the TiVoCast web page so you can subscribe there, but it still isn’t showing up on the TiVo. They’ll probably fix that eventually. Again, not to be confused with Wine Library Reserve.

Wine Library TV:

Gary Vaynerchuk, not your typical wine expert, describes what he tastes on the Internet’s most passionate wine program. Gary’s spontaneous, informal approach makes wine both accessible and fun. Explore WLTV and join the legion of viewers changing the wine world.

Subscribe online, but not yet on your TiVo. Eventually it should show up under Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Wine Library TV

One odd thing I noticed, the listings are sorted differently on the TiVo and on the TiVoCast web page. For example, on the TiVo ‘The Digg Reel’ is sorted under ‘T’, but on the web page it is under ‘D’. Similarly The Gourmet Channel is under ‘T’ on the TiVo and ‘G’ on the web. The New York Times is under ‘T’ on TiVo, and ‘N’ on the web. Notice a trend? Same pattern for The Watcher on TiVo and The Weather Channel. Of course, The Totally Rad Show is under ‘T’ on both, but sorted differently - ‘h’ vs. ‘o’. Looks like the website ignores the leading ‘The’ and the TiVo does not.

Here’s something else odd. We known GeekBrief.TV hasn’t been delivering new episodes for TiVoCast for about a month for some reason, but I noticed that while it is correctly listed as GeekBrief.TV on the TiVo, on the web it is hiding as PodShowTV, which is the old name for the site that hosts GBTV, now called Mevio. And there are more oddities. Alaska Podshow, Fit Life, and The Masthead with Marie Claire are all listed on the TiVo, but not the web. They’re all PodShowTV/Mevio programs. I suspect the problem is that the ‘PodShowTV’ entry on the website is supposed to be a sub-list of all of the programs, much the same as The New York Times, instead of just a listing for GeekBrief.TV. Looks like someone broke the website.

So this covers nearly all of the Revision3 shows, just a few left. Best Of… is perhaps redundant, but it could be a nice sampler for people looking to check things out. The GigaOm Show is currently on hiatus, so perhaps that’s why it has not been added, but I’d still like to have it added so I can be sure to subscribe for when it returns. The Revision3 Gazette also seems to be on hiatus, or perhaps dropped. Web Drifter I’m pretty sure has ended, despite still being in the active list on the site. So it looks like the only currently active show not carried by TiVo is ‘Best Of…’.

I’m really happy to see TiVo adding all of this content to TiVoCast, I hope they keep it up.

TiVoCast Adds Systm - Soon Wine Library TV?

The Revision3 train continues to roll on TiVoCast. Today they’ve added Systm:

Systm is the Do It Yourself show designed for the common geek who wants to quickly and easily learn how to dive into the latest and hottest tech projects. We will help you avoid pitfalls and get your project up and running fast.

Subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Systm

And here’s an odd one. On the TiVoCast web page Wine Library TV is listed, not to be confused with Wine Library Reserve. But if you try to follow the link for Wine Library TV you get a 500 Server Error (at least you do as I write this). And it isn’t in the list on the TiVo itself. So perhaps someone jumped the gun and put it on the online listing too early, but it will be coming soon? That it is a mistake is reinforced by it being out of order in the list - the list is alphabetical, but it is at the bottom under Zipidee Action Sports.

In any case, keep them coming TiVo!

TiVoCast Adds Diggnation, The Totally Rad Show, And Wine Library Reserve

It looks like Internet Superstar and Tekzilla were just the vanguard of the new Revision3 invasion. TiVo has just added three more Revision3 shows to TiVoCast:

Diggnation:

Diggnation is a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories.

Subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Diggnation

The Totally Rad Show:

The Totally Rad Show is the summer blockbuster of geek news shows. Every week, hosts Alex Albrecht, Dan Trachtenberg, and Jeff Cannata rip into the world of movies, video games, tv, comics, and more and pull out what’s rad.

Subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> The Totally Rad Show

Wine Library Reserve:

Gary Vaynerchuk, not your typical wine expert, describes what he tastes on the Internet’s most passionate wine program. Wine Library Reserve delivers the info on the wines of Wine Library TV in 5 minutes or less!

Subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Wine Library Reserve

Wine isn’t my thing, at all really, but I’ll be jumping on the first two. I hope they add the rest of the Revision3 lineup soon. Especially as I noticed The GigaOm Show was dropped from TiVo Web Video, where I’d been subscribed to it. (Fortunately it is on hiatus currently anyway.) Let’s get some popSiren in TiVoCast soon!

TiVoCast Adds Internet Superstar and Tekzilla

Now this is more like it! It certainly makes up for the last two channels that were added. ;-) I’ve been asking for Tekzilla for a while. (OK, since Veronica Belmont left Mahalo Daily to co-host Tekzilla.) I’m not as keen on Internet Superstar, but I’ll still subscribe.

It is nice to see that I called this one back in May when I speculated that TiVo was working on some kind of deal to bring Revision3 content to TiVoCast:

Still no TekZilla in Web Video. I’m starting to suspect that the hold-up is that TiVo is working some larger deal to bring Revision3 content into TiVoCast instead of via Web Video. One of the reasons I suspect that is that Revision3 just recently announced an agreement to bring their content to DivX Connected devices. And all of Revision3’s shows are available in HD, so they’d make fantastic additions to the TiVoCast lineup for the Series3 and TiVo HD.

Unfortunately, while the TiVoCast encodes do look very good, they’re not in HD. Since all Revision3 content is available in HD, that really would be killer for TiVoCast on the Series3 and HD. Other Revision3 shows, like Systm and popSiren are in the standard TiVo Web Video list in their HD versions. It takes a while for a PC to transcode the HD shows, but they do look great in HD on the TiVo. I have to admit I’d rather have the decent SD versions in TiVoCast in lieu of the HD versions via TiVo Web Video, just to avoid the mess of the PC transcode, but HD via TiVoCast would just be the optimal solution. I hope TiVo is working on that, allowing S3 & HD users to get the HD version of TiVoCast content when it is available. That is a logical progression from what we have today.

Anyway, to focus on today’s additions, Internet Superstar is described as:

Join Martin and Gator as they invite the online world’s most popular, compelling and outrageous characters into the shed to swap stories about what life is like at the top of the online heap. What life is like as an INTERNET SUPERSTAR

As you probably know by now, you can subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Internet Superstar.

And Tekzilla is described thusly:

Embrace digital technology. Join the Tekzilla crew and make your tech work better for you. Or you can go live in the woods with an axe. Every Saturday, Patrick Norton and Veronica Belmont deliver product reviews, computer help, tech tips on everything from iPods to camcorders, HD to the Internet, plus do it yourself projects.

Of course, you can subscribe online or on your TiVo via Find Programs & Downloads -> Download TV, Movies, & Web Video -> Browse Other Videos -> All -> Tekzilla.

I hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg and that we’ll be seeing the rest of the Revision3 lineup available through TiVoCast. They have some really good content, I’m currently subscribed to The GigaOm Show, popSiren, and Systm through TiVo Web Video. And if I didn’t have to go through that transcoding mess, if I could just sign up for TiVoCast direct downloads, I’d pick up a few more of their shows.

Well, technically they do already have another Revision3 show in TiVoCast - EPIC-FU. But Revision3 just acquired EPIC-FU on June 6th and it has been a part of TiVoCast for a long time now, so that’s a special case.
