The Slingbox PRO-HD just started shipping a week ago, on 7/25, and most sites and stores are still selling it at, or very near, the full $299.99 MSRP. But I’ve become aware of two deals on it right now.

Buy.com has it for $249.99 + $9.85 shipping, $259.84 total!

But that’s not all, PROVANTAGE has it for $235.11 + $6.95 shipping, just $242.06 total!

PROVANTAGE is also listing the SlingCatcher, also $299.99 MSRP, for only $241.03 + $6.95 shipping - $247.98! The SlingCatcher isn’t shipping just yet, but will be shipping very soon.

PROVANTAGE offers faster, and more expensive, shipping options. And if you order both at once you save a little bit on shipping ($11.35 for ground together).

I’m really surprised to see them discounted so heavily already - especially before the official release of the SlingCatcher.

This is the HAVA Titanium HD that was on sale earlier this month for $119.99, only the HAVA Titanium HD WiFi is bundled with a USB WiFi adapter for an extra $30 - $149.99. Full MSRP is $249.99. The HAVA is a place-shifting device from Monsoon Multimedia, generally similar to the better known Sling Media Slingbox. While it is labeled ‘HD’ and it accepts HD resolution input, that is down-sampled and it really only streams in 720×480 - not HD - so don’t be confused by the naming. Compatible HAVA clients are available for Windows XP/Vista, Windows Mobile, Symbian S60, and Nokia Internet Tablets running Maemo.

Buy.com has the Sling Media SlingLink Turbo 4-Port power line networking adapter for $99.95. This includes two modules, a one-port bridge which connects your Ethernet network to the power line, and a 4-port switch which connects up to four Ethernet devices to the power line. This provides a high-speed (85Mbps) network in your home when you’re not able to run Ethernet cabling. And it is faster, and often more reliable, than 802.11g WiFi. Great for a Slingbox, but also for a TiVo, game console, Blu-ray deck, etc. The full MSRP is $149.99.

Buy.com has the Western Digital 500GB eSATA My DVR Expander on sale again for $131.99. This is the only drive officially approved for use with the TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL. That’s a great price on that drive, so if you’ve been thinking about getting one, now is a good time.

Buy.com has the Slingbox SOLO, which has a $179.99 MSRP, for just $134.95. The SOLO is perfect for those looking to place-shift a single device. It has component, S-Video, and composite inputs and accepts HD input, though streaming is limited to 640×480. (HD content is down-converted.)

While it officially supports one device, here’s a trick. You can connect multiple devices using audio Y-cables to share the single audio connection. As long as the connected devices can be switched off, so only one is feeding audio to the Slingbox as a time, you can connect one to component, one to S-Video, and one to composite and switch between them. So you can have three devices as long as only one at a time is on.

Thanks to my friend Jer for the heads up on this great deal. Buy.com is selling the TiVo-approved Western Digital 500GB My DVR Expander eSATA External Hard Drive for just $131.99 - and that’s with free shipping. That’s a great deal, Buy.com has the list price as $179.99 and TiVo.com still lists them for the old $199.99 MSRP. This is the only eSATA drive officially sanctioned by TiVo for use with the TiVo Series3 and the TiVo HD. I’ve had one connected to my Series3 for quite a while and it works great.

EDIT: Reader Mike Turpin points out that you can get the same deal through Amazon.com from the seller BuyNow Incorporated (see the ‘More Buying Choices’ on the right) and avoid the sales tax Buy.com charges in several states.
