Slipping a little non-CES news in here, Amazon has a few deals on VOD content. First up are $0.99 rental deals on independent films: The Signal, The Host, Broken English, Jesus Camp, and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.

There is a $5.99 digital movie sale with 43 titles. That’s $5.99 to own, not rentals.

And finally, Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and Resident Evil: Extinction are all $7.99 each to own, 50% off.

The $100 Roku video player, often referred to as the Roku Netflix Player, or just the Netflix STB, will have to change its reputation. No longer just a client for Netflix streaming, Roku is adding Amazon Video On Demand to the system. That’s certainly a nice bonus for those who’ve purchased the system as Amazon VOD has an extensive library of newer content which is generally missing from Netflix. Unlike TiVo, which offers Amazon content as download-to-view, the Roku box will stream the video.

Amazon VOD is running some specials for your movie downloading pleasure over the holidays. First up there are four rentals available for just $0.99: Fred Claus, Love Actually, Night at the Museum, and Space Chimps. Also, Tropic Thunder is only $2.99.

They also have 64 movies on sale, to own not rent, for just $5.99. You can probably find something in that assortment that you’d like to own.

Through December 29th Amazon is running a special promotion. Buy any one of seven approved Samsung HDTV models and a TiVo HD, and receive an instant $150 off on the TiVo HD when you checkout. That’s $150 off Amazon’s price of $233.18, making the TiVo HD just $83.18! The Samsung HDTVs range from 40″ to 52″ and $936.72 to $2,249.98, all 1080p LCDs. That’s not all, if you purchase a TiVo HD from Amazon through January 15, 2009 you also receive two free movie rentals from Amazon Video On Demand.

This week Amazon VOD is offering three $0.99 rentals: The Incredible Hulk, Get Smart, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

They’re also offering discounted purchases on a number of titles. Fourteen titles for $4.99 and eight titles for $5.99. They’re also offering ten complete television seasons for $14.99 each: The Office Seasons 2 & 3, Monk Seasons 2, 3, 4, & 5, Friday Night Lights Seasons 1 & 2, and House Seasons 1 & 2. And there are a number of free downloads.

This weekend Amazon VOD offers two great movies as $0.99 rentals: Idiocracy and Serenity.

There is also a Veteran’s Day Sale, featuring nine movies to purchase for $5.99 each: The Patriot, Air Force One, Black Hawk Down, Tears of the Sun, The Hunt for Eagle One, The Hunt for Eagle One: Crash Point, Stealth, Sniper, and Sniper 3.

Amazon VOD is currently running a sale offering entire seasons of TV series for just $5 a season. The offerings include: House Season 1, House Season 2, House Season 3, House Season 4, Heroes Volume 1, Heroes Volume 2, Battlestar Galactica Season 1, Battlestar Galactica Season 2, Battlestar Galactica Season 3, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Season 1, and The Office Season 4. Additionally the SNL Best of 2008 Campaign Season 1 is just $1.99.

And the Scary Movie Sale is still running with $0.99 rentals.

This weekend Amazon VOD has a few special offers. The Notebook, The Big Lebowski, and Then She Found Me are $0.99 rentals, while The Forbidden Kingdom and What Happens in Vegas are available for $1.99.

There are also ten horror films and thrillers available as $0.99 rentals: Dreamcatcher, The Initiation of Sarah, Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Buried Alive, Panic Room, The Unholy, See No Evil, Darkness Falls, Horror of Dracula, and Wolf.

With Saw V hitting theaters the first four films are 50% off. Saw, Saw II, and Saw III are $6.99 and Saw IV is $7.99.

But the other eight titles make more sense: Hard Candy, John Carpenter’s Vampires, The Devil’s Rejects, Fallen, The Seventh Sign, Body Snatchers, Poltergeist II: The Other Side, and Scream and Scream Again.

And they’re still running an Adam Sandler movie sale - seven of his films to purchase at $5.99 each: Anger Management, Mr. Deeds, Punch-Drunk Love, 50 First Dates, Spanglish, Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights, and Big Daddy.

This weekend Amazon VOD continues the Scary Movie Sale. $1.99 for Chair, and nine titles each $0.99 to rent: Interview with the Vampire, An American Haunting, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, The Exorcist, I Know What You Did Last Summer, A Stranger Is Watching, Pumpkinhead, and Christine.
