Both versions of MoCA are being deployed primarily to enable the Multi-Room DVR feature available from all the major Pay TV providers."</blockquote> What that means is if you're switching to cable, or planning to connect a central antenna to the coax to feed multiple rooms, then probably not. The frequencies will conflict.But if you're ditching DirectTV and 'cutting the cord' to go pure streaming, and not using the coax for anything else, then sure, there is no reason that wouldn't work. The only question is if DirecTV will sell the DECA HW to you so you can keep using it. That I do not know the answer to.You don't need the dish, powered or not, as far as I know. The DECA units talk to each other over the coax and don't care about other devices on the wire as long as they don't compete for frequencies. Well, it comes down to what else you’re going to use that coax for, if anything, and this from the post:

What that means is if you’re switching to cable, or planning to connect a central antenna to the coax to feed multiple rooms, then probably not. The frequencies will conflict.

I used to have service through DirecTv but disconnected a few months ago.
Can I purchase the DECA HW and still use it to extend my network using the coaxial cable (which was used for DirecTv)? Or do I need to have DirecTv service in order for me to able to use the DECA HW?
Please note I still have the Dish for DirecTv connected outside my home (and the power to it is still ON) but don’t have have the DirecTv receivers.
