Hey Dave. I appreciate it, I don’t think anyone could’ve expected things to play out as they did. And, as I said, I’ve done the same kind of thing – picking up items from forums and the like. It just snowballed. I never would’ve posted what I did if I knew where it would lead. I got lulled into the give and take of the community, like I had before Sling hired me, and made the mistake of sharing my personal opinions.

Of course, as soon as I said I’d start blogging Speakeasy, my DSL provider, suffered a major outage. Now they’re back up – except my region. I’m leeching from a neighbor right now. So I’ll wait for my connection to return before doing too much.

My day job evaporated just over a week ago so I share your pain – though as you noted it is not so bad if you kinda know it is coming.

Hey MZ, Welcome back to the blogosphere. You didn’t miss much. But I’ve been keeping an eye on your Disney tweets.

As you and I have discussed a few times, I apologize for my role in the Sling events. Had I known how it’d play out, I wouldn’t have posted. A provocative story is not worth anyone losing a job. Triply so in this economic climate. As someone who was laid off in November and paying $600/mo in COBRA fees, I could certainly relate – and to this as well: “A good deal of my self-identity tends to stem from my work and my accomplishments therein.” (I’m back to work as of this month, refreshing my rusty IT skills.)

Anyhow, good to see you back. What we need is another Blu-ray/HD DVD battle to brighten your spirits.
