Time Warner Of San Antonio, TX Offering Free SDV Tuning Adapter Pre-Order

Reader David commented on a previous post that Time Warner Cable of San Antonio, TX has a link to order a free Tuning Adapter to enable SDV on TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, or TiVo HD XL units. The order form states:“The expected availability date is later this year.” That leaves two and a half months, though I personally suspect it will be sooner rather than later, especially as Comcast is already deploying Tuning Adapters.

Is anyone else seeing Time Warner offer Tuning Adapter pre-orders in their area?

Sweet, looks like it’s on it’s way. Come on Cablevision! Still awaiting word from them. Found this on the website :

TiVo is working closely with the cable industry to develop a device, expected to be available in late 2008, to enable our TiVo Series 3 HD DVR and TiVo HD DVR customer access to Switched Digital Video programming. The Tuning Adapter is intended to work with any Unidirectional Digital Cable Ready Product (UDCP) that has a USB connector and necessary firmware. Cablevision will update customers on the availability of this device in the coming months.

Another update on the TWC-SA front. Received this e-mail today. I volunteered to help test the TA…no response yet.

“Thank you for your recent request for the SDV Tuning Adapter. Your Pre-Order has been received. At this time the Tuning Adapter is not available to the public but is currently undergoing testing to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction upon release; which we will begin deployments later this year. We do not have a specific release date for your area, but once the Tuning Adapter becomes available a service representative will contact you to schedule the installation.”

I am in Austin (Central TX region for TWC) and I was able to request the invite. All you do is go to your region’s local site (punch in your zip), go to the SDV page and there should be an invite button where you fill out your info.
