TiVo hasn't published their XMPP communication message standards to my knowledge. Not sure if the community has managed to reverse engineer it, I haven't checked lately.

Nothing new that I’ve heard. Technical specs?Could we for example, potentially drive the Tivo UI from remotely sourced XMPP commands?I am looking into the possibility for proposing an XMPP API for W3C's Widgets standard. One scenario here would be home automation: widgets running on a normal mobile phone could be logged into ordinary XMPP user accounts, and communicate with appliances (eg. TV) that were similarly connected. So any more details on the Tivo approach would be really useful...

Any more news on this? The most common installation problem people have with TiVo desktop is Bonjour being blocked by PC security software. This infrastructure could eliminate that and make setup a much more freindly process for people running a lot of security software and/or VPNs on their PC.

Please ask if the server registration of Desktop and xmpp communications will also be used to eliminate the need for bonjour IP and service discovery between desktop and the TiVos.
