This is the 'up charge' to get TiVo software instead of the normal DVR software on the Motorola box.

TiVo confirmed that it is $2.95 a month to add the TiVo software to the existing Comcast DVR, and it is not related to CableCARD. I called to ask and they told me $2.95 as well, and that's when I asked more questiones and realized they weren't talking about the same thing as I was. I figured something was up when they told me to call the 1800 Tivo phone number to buy a box from them. Sigh.

Just to clarify, I think this is for the cable card way of getting Tiv (using a Tivo box, not Comcastt’s new service that isn’t available yet).
