TiVo in Mexico

TiVo service just recently launched for CABLEVISION customers in Mexico City, and it looks like it came out of the gate with accompanying ads, like this one:

Light Reading’s Cable Digital News reports that pricing is a one time fee of 499 pesos (about US$45.04) and a monthly fee of 149 pesos (about US$13.45) for the service. If you can read Spanish (the high-school Spanish I took is pretty much gone now) you can also see the CABLEVISION website.

Thanks to TiVo Blog for the video.

it looks like this boils down to the box costing
a bit less than the $99 US, and basically the same
$12.95/mo (+) with cablevision doing the marketing
    and the one bill advantage.

With CV apparently already offering an HD DVR from
MOT, and the history of TiVo uptake, I don’t see
    much here.

TiVo likely will take much smaller revenues from
these boxes and the warehouse could use some place
    to send those S2DTs.

If TiVo really felt there would be significant numbers
from this deal they wouldn’t have cancelled all those
orders and taken the $11.2M writedown.
