Warner Bros. to remain dual-format for now – TotalHD on hold

TWICE magazine posted an article which contains a Q&A with Warner Home Video’s President, Ron Sanders. The the Q&A Sanders says that their TotalHD Blu-ray/HD DVD combination disc format is on hold, as they’d be the only studio using it and they feel it would be hard to make it work in the market. While they’ve talked to both camps about exclusivity, for now they’ve elected to remain dual-format. They’ll be watching sales closely in 4Q07, and will evaluate the situation once they have that information. Warner is also committed to putting the same features on their BD and HD DVD releases going forward – so we’ll be seeing BD 1.1 and BD 2.0/Live titles from them to match the PIP and Web functionality of HD DVD. The full Q&A is worth a read.

If I remember, the Warner dual format announcement (date?) was the day HD DVD became the clear loser.
