Yeah, but I’ve been with Tivo long enough to know how long it takes them to come through on some of their promises. It’s not a criticism but just one of being familiar with them. Multiroom viewing should ease some of the space issues (as we’re completely HD) but being able to slap in more storage will definitely work better.

Remember that these transfers will most likely be severely limited due to copy flags set by the cable companies. I wouldn’t be surprised if only the regular network programming would be available for transfer, and nothing else.

Now that it looks like transfers will be here in November and SDV will have a solution, I think the upgrade cycle from S2s to TiVo HDs can kick in.

I blogged a bit about this earlier today mainly from a personal perspective; actually replacing S2s with TiVo HDs will be viable from a functional and economic perspective for many folks.

This comes just in time since my free year on my S2 (after transfering my lifetime to my S3) is about to expire. I only kept the S2 running to transfer some SD shows and to free up some space on it.

Now I can keep all my content on the S3.

This is the best TTC&G/MRV functionality anyone could have hoped for. Its great news. Dumb luck I ordered a TiVo HD hours before this announcement, but I had become confident this and other things were coming in a reasonable time frame.
