Roxio Launches Popcorn(R) 3

New Features and Expanded Device Support Offer Consumers Enhanced Productivity, Ease of Use and Flexibility

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Roxio(R), a division of Sonic Solutions(R) (NASDAQ:SNIC) , the leader in digital media software, today released Popcorn 3, the easiest way for Mac users to transfer their favorite personal video entertainment to DVDs and popular portable devices. The latest version of Popcorn comes with innovative time-saving features that streamline and simplify workflow as well as universal video conversion and encoding technology optimized for the broadest selection of devices including iPhone(TM), iPod(R), Apple TV(TM), BlackBerry(R), Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 compatibility and exclusive TiVoToGo(TM) and EyeTV support. With TiVoToGo(TM) support, consumers can now easily transfer their favorite TV shows to their Mac, create DVDs or move them to a portable device of their choice for on-the-go viewing. Popcorn 3, a universal application, is available in retail stores across North America and direct at http://www.roxio.com/ for a suggested price of $49.99. Previous owners of Toast and Popcorn maybe eligible for special upgrade pricing.

“As the proliferation of video sources and playback options continues, we wanted to provide Mac users with the most flexible application for accessing video content anytime, anywhere,” said Vito Salvaggio, vice president, Mac Business Unit, Sonic Solutions. “With the most comprehensive support for the newest portable devices and Roxio’s exclusive support for TiVoToGo(TM) transfers on the Mac, Popcorn 3 is an ideal solution for consumers who want to enjoy their video whenever and wherever they want.”

Popcorn 3 is equipped with a variety of innovative features designed to simplify and accelerate the otherwise time consuming and CPU intensive video conversion process, including Automatic TiVoToGo(TM) Conversion that starts encoding as soon as the TV show is transferred to the Mac, Batch DVD-Video Conversion that enables consumers to queue up multiple DVDs for use with Roxio’s Fit-to-DVD(TM) technology, and Pause and Resume buttons that enable users to suspend a disc copy or video conversion project, work on a different task, then resume when convenient. To reduce time spent on multiple conversions and to ensure end-results meet expectations, Popcorn 3 comes with Video Quality Preview that enables consumers to review a snippet of converted video to check video quality prior to initiating the full encoding process. Popcorn 3 also supports Elgato’s Turbo.264 for faster video encoding.

Popcorn 3 users can now create DVDs up to four hours long, resulting in fewer discs and decreasing the amount of time required for video-project transfer. The application also includes a rich disc labeling application that enables users to create personalized disc labels or print directly onto discs using LightScribe enabled burners and media. Built on the award-winning Toast burning technology, Popcorn 3 continues to provide consumers with a quick and easy way to copy and enjoy their movies on a disc or on-the-go.
