1080p over component – heading for standardization

While a number of devices, most notably the Xbox 360 and PS3, support 1080p over analog component video connections – that’s not standardized. So far, interoperability has been OK between devices, but it would be better if it were standardized to ensure problem-free connections. Well, the Consumer Electronics Association is working on adding 1080p at 24, 30, and 60Hz to the standard. The current standard, CEA-770.3-rev C, was last revised five years ago. The new standard would be Rev. D.
