Have you heard the news? TiVo and Amazon.com have teamed up to bring you the latest movie releases and TV shows, delivered direct to your Now Playing List! That’s what I call (only on TiVo®) service. Further down, I’ll spill how you can start enjoying this amazing service now… and get $15 (free!) to spend on your first movie and TV downloads!

And if that’s not enough to make you mad about March, read on. There’s something for everyone if you’re a TiVo subscriber.

Who’s a lucky lass?
Shanan

P.S. Wonder what it’s like to work at TiVo Inc.? I’ll give you the whirlwind tour, Cribs style, and you can see for yourself (and see where Jim Barton, the Daddio of TiVo, sits!). Perhaps you, or someone you know, might be lucky enough to work here, too.

Movie downloads, TiVo style (and a free $15 for your “First Time”)That’s right, TiVo and Amazon.com have teamed up to download new movie releases and back episodes of TV shows directly into your living room! It’s the fastest way to get the stuff you can’t wait to see.

With Amazon Unbox on TiVo, you’ll be able to purchase or rent movies and TV shows to be delivered through broadband directly to your TiVo Now Playing List, so you can watch them on your big-screen TV. (C’mon people, it’s 2007: Renting movies through the mail is so pass©!) If you haven’t already connected your TiVo® Series2â„¢ or Series3â„¢ box to your home network, now is the time to do it (like with this Wireless Adapter) so you can start enjoying this super-cool, new service in the comfort of your own home.

Did we mention you can go back and get last week’s episode of “24″? Did we make it clear that this collection of movies is likely the largest you’ve ever seen? To kick-start your new favorite pastime, register by April 30 and get $15 in free movies and TV shows, just because we love you… and know you’ll love Amazon Unbox on TiVo!

TiVo Tip: Hopin’ for HoopsCreate a keyword WishList® search for your favorite basketball team like so:

  • From Find Programs, Create a WishList search
  • Select Keyword and enter your favorite team, e.g., DUKE
  • For Category, choose Sports, and for Subcategory, select Sports Event (This will get you just the games and not the highlight programs. If you just want the women’s games, you can enter DUKE WOMENS.)

WARNING: If you are not connected to the TiVo service through broadband, you might be missing out… To make sure you have the most accurate schedule for a particular evening’s game, you’ll want to force a call to the TiVo service between noon PST and the start of the game to get any last-minute schedule updates. Or, just get yourself connected already.

BONUS TIP: A TiVo Basketball Guru Guide or two will help you capture all the madness in March. We’ve made it as easy as selecting “Get this Guide” to have all the NCAA games land right on your TiVo Now Playing List. And how ’bout a few good basketball movies to get you in the mood? Slam dunk, sportsfans. Slam dunk.

  • My Wild Irish Rose (1947) – Story of Irish tenor Chauncey Olcott.
  • The Luck of the Irish (1948) – The first Hollywood film to deal with leprechauns.
  • The Quiet Man (1952) – One of John Ford’s best movies, featuring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.
  • Untamed (1955) – A story beginning in Ireland during the Potato Famine and ending in South Africa. Starring Tyrone Power and Susan Hayward.
  • Darby O’Gill and the Little People (1959) – A wonderful Disney family film with a pre-Bond Sean Connery.
  • Finian’s Rainbow (1968) – A musical directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Fred Astaire as an Irish immigrant to America who encounters racism in the South.’
  • The Secret of Roan Inish (1994) – An unconventional story of a young Irish girl’s discovery of a magical family history.
  • Far and Away (1992) – Directed by Ron Howard, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, playing Irish immigrants seeking their fortune in 1890s America, taking part in the Land Run of 1893.
  • Waking Ned (1998) – The film’s tagline says it best: Finally, a comedy that will make you feel like a million bucks.

Fan Mail“I want to tell you about our very special TiVo family,” writes Christine C. “I do special needs adult as well as child foster care. Those who live in my home include a young woman who is blind. I wanted you to know that TiVo is so user-friendly that even the young woman who has been blind since birth can use it in her room with ease. The sounds that the TiVo makes are her ‘eyes’ and this is how she navigates it. If you ever wanted to do a TiVo commercial to show people how truly easy it is to use, our foster home would be delighted to participate!”

“We are VERY loyal TiVo customers,” Christine adds. “Over the years, I’ve purchased a total of 5 TiVo boxes for our home.”

No, we don’t make this stuff up. You send us a story or photo of your favorite TiVo moment and we make a RECORD of it—from TiVo birthday cakes to TiVo tattoos to TiVo what-have-you.
