But can you transfer a lifetime to it? Where is there an official word on this?

I don’t see why not since you can transfer lifetime to S3s purchazed anywhere else. They removed the ‘only from the VIP’ site clause a while back.
(And, yeah, I think I still haven’t updated the FAQ to reflect that. This reminds me I need to do that…)
