and also on the setup poster, if I remember. I thought, hmm what a cool adapter to have if only a manufacturer made this. so, in a sense, TiVo scooped themselves? or majorly hinted of this upcoming adapter?

It was first shown off at the TiVoCommunity Con in Vegas this past summer. TiVoPony had a prototype there that he showed off. That was the first public mention of it.
