Stream your non-FairPlay AAC files from your Mac to your TiVo!

The instructions are here.

Basically if you have a Mac with iTunes and TiVo Desktop 1.9, you can stream unprotected AAC files to your TiVo by converting them on the fly to MP3 using the LAME encoder.

This only works on Mac currently, sorry.

To play Protected AAC files you purchased from iTunes, you’d need to use something like HYMN to strip off the DRM.

If it’s working on the Mac then it’s coming for Windows eventually. w00t!

Definitely neat, though I switched to the easier way and bought an AirPort Express to play my files using the computer interface. Easier to use iTunes directly than Tivo’s interface, which frankly is a joke in comparison.

Not often we Mac users get something before you do!
