TiVo takes a second click at innovation

If you run into Mike Ramsay at the Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 7, don’t be surprised if he’s sweating. That’s the day the TiVo Inc. CEO will take the podium to convince the faithful at the annual gadget fest that his company will assume a defining role in the next big thing — becoming the Google, as it were, of television.

I’m planning to be there – it should be interesting.

I hope something good happens and they don’t jump the shark.

My favorite quote from the article:Sanderson disagrees, however. “It’s not about quality — if it was, we would all be using Macs,” he said.

You know what would really let TiVo win? If they made it possible for people to download and share their *own* content. People would make exclusive, indpendently produced content that would ONLY be available on TiVos. There are tons of budding independent content producers out there in the world, and more are jumping in all the time with cheaper digital production equipment, and nobody has captured them yet. Imagine something like AtomFilms being available on demand on TiVo?
