It's a green fluorescent protein stain in a type of cell called a "Henrietta Lacks" cell (very undifferentiated cancer cells that are easy to culture.) I grabbed it as a still frame from some images from an experiment my lab did a while ago since I thought it would make a good icon.I thought I might trip you up. I still read way too much - a few of the magazines I subscribe too are Aviation Week, Flight Journal, and Smithsonian/Air&Space. I'd probably still be more of an active rail fan too, if I had more time. I was in into rail before I got into aerospace. Probably has to do with growing up in the Schenectady, NY area - General Electric occupied the old American Locomotive works, where they built the Big Boy.
