A setback for TiVo

At CES2004 TiVo announced a deal with XM Radio which would let users chain XM’s PCR PC-based XM receiver with HMO to listen to XM through your TiVo. Here is the press release.

Well, this hit the news yesterday: XM Radio pulls PC hardware amid piracy concerns

That definitely looks like a setback for their plans with XM Radio.

    If you still use Tivo you might still be able to get one, since if they kill the deal, they will probably have to pay a huge penalty for pulling out of the contract.

    But … wtf?! Since when was it “piracy” to record things off the radio for personal use? Time shifting IS LEGAL! The courts ruled on that a long time ago.

    This mess is BS.
