TiVo lowers Series2 prices

TiVo dropped their pricing on the 40 and 80 hour Series2 recorders today – to $199 and $299, respectively. This is the price they’ve been selling at for a while – after the $50 rebate. They just made it the straight price now – no messing around with rebates.

Now if only the hd versions were even reasonably priced…

Probably not until the wave of early adopters crests. Why discount when so many people are waving money at you begging you to sell them a unit? :-)

Unfortunately, Amazon’s price of $214.99 before $50 rebate became $199.99 no rebate. I’d rather have it for $165, even if I do have to wait a few weeks to get the $50 back.

There are still the $149 factory refurbished units available from TiVo.

True that. But it was nice to be able to get a new one for $165.
