Extensive review of the Dish DVR-921

Based on what has been made public about the HD DirecTiVo, it sounds like the Dish unit is good – but not as good as the TiVo.

Yeah, I looked through that review… the interface that thing has just looks butt-ugly to me. Give me TiVo any day of the week. Now they just have to release their HD versions… :)

What would completely kill it for me is that the Dish units have no name based recording – nothing at all like the TiVo Season Pass. That’s the main feature I’d look for in a DVR.

If I were looking to go DBS the DVR features alone would make me pick DTV over Dish.

I’m going to CES2004 in a couple of weeks, so I’ll be looking into the upcoming release.
